Forgotten: A Dementia Project” explores the metamorphic journey endured by a person suffering from dementia. Through movement and text, the cast illustrates the narrative of a dementia patient and their family as the progression of this condition manifests in difficult ways. Concern, pity, frustration and acceptance: this evening length dance/theater experience invites the audience to witness the varying stages and shifts in the story of this disease while moving from one vantage point to another around the performance space. The wandering, meandering thoughts and actions of those affected by dementia are reflected in this non traditional presentation. The company has collaborated with community members who have graciously shared their stories of dementia through interviews and poetry. We are incredibly thankful to them and ultimately strive to bring light, hope and understanding to those experiencing dementia and those who love them. We invite you to share your own experiences with us after the show. There will be food and beverages available for purchase throughout the event.

Return. Restore. Renew. What does it mean to persevere? For artists worldwide, times of tumultuous change and upheaval trigger a response to dig deep and hold fast to that which gives us purpose. For many, these past months were filled with solitude as dancers worked in isolation, connected via technology. But dance is an art form meant to be experienced in the flesh. Join us in celebrating the resilience of the arts, the passion and drive which elevate us as we continue to adjust and reimagine together. In this 11th season, Nhan Ho Project (NHP) is thrilled to present “Return, Restore, Renew“, featuring dance works by guest choreographers as well as some of our own company members. We will be sharing the stage with guest artists including Boogie Monstarz, Borne Dance Company, Ktdavisdance, and Step I Dance Companies. Enthusiastically, we welcome you to witness this collaborative dance performance.

CELEBRATING 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY Established 2010 Nhan Ho Project presents our LIVE-STREAM 10th anniversary performance! Despite tremendous changes to our industry and our lives, we have banned together and continued creating work in the name of community, support, and keeping our art alive. When the world took a sharp turn into the unknown, we tried to stay present and connected with each other, supporting each other through the changes of our world while also continuing our creation process remotely. We dove deep into our creative wells, experimented with several options, and managed to develop a way to bring our passion to you! Founded in 2010, our company is based on community creation and collaboration via sustainable partnerships with other community organizations and local enterprises to help promote diversity and inclusivity of the arts in Sacramento, San Jose, and the Bay Area. We are excited to present a look back on a sampling of the last 10 years of repertory works, as well as a full performance of two brand new works created by the current company!

Nhan Ho, the Artistic Director of the Nhan Ho Project will be hosting “Images of Dance 2019,” a platform for established and emerging artists to share works on the same stage. Images of Dance was developed to give youth and adult dance companies and groups a space to perform and participate in highlighting the innovative variety of dance that flourishes in the Sacramento region today. This is a unique opportunity for dance companies, studios, choreographers, performing groups, and cultural organizations to showcase their talents and strengthen our local dance community.

The Movement Choir is making a major impact on the Sacramento community at many levels. It is strengthening the Sacramento arts by bringing together dancers of diverse backgrounds, from different neighborhoods and dance schools, to create and move with one another. The Movement Choir also acts as a bridge to the arts beyond the dance world, connecting visual artists and musicians with performance artists. These collaborative events, such as the October 12 performance, will serve as meaningful arts education and entertainment by showcasing community artists and their original work to the broader public. On October 12, 2018, the Nhan Ho Project’s Movement Choir will be collaborating with artists of other mediums including DJ Lady Char, Intempus Music, Nick Micheels, MG (Myles Graves), Rickie Jiménez, Sonya Scott, Talitha De Mesa, Shaun Burner, Merrick From Guam, Keyla Christian Photography, Elizabeth Dyer Photography, and many more. Since January 2017, NHP has been working creating new works as well as reviving old repertories for the October performance.
